Each Spring, usually towards the end of April, we invite the community to join us at the Jacksonville Community Park for a cleanup. This has historically been on a Saturday and the past couple of years we have assembled from 9am to 12noon. Folks bring whatever tools and equipment they are willing to provide and can transport, and we organize into small groups around specific cleaning, maintenance, or improvement priorities.
Coffee, snacks, and other refreshments are provided and we welcome input and ideas on areas of the park to focus on! It is a nice way to meet neighbors, network, spend some time in nature and steward our charming park – we hope you can join us at a future cleanup! - Cleared area near bridge for donated Winter Berry Hollies to be planted
- Built approach to bridge with gravel for easier wheelchair, walker, and stroller access
- Cleaned trash from the trail and trail edges
- Reinforced sections of the trail with gravel
- Added new gravel to long stretches of the trail, particularly on either side of the bridge
- Cleared fallen trees and branches obstructing the trails
